Founder's Pricing: Why Early BagRescue Subscribers Pay $4.99 Forever
Users who subscribed before May 2026 keep Pro at $4.99/month or $49.99/year for life. Here's how the lock-in works and what happens if you cancel.
TL;DR: If you subscribed to BagRescue Pro before the May 2026 pricing change, you keep $4.99/month or $49.99/year for as long as you stay subscribed. We call it Founder's Pricing. It's our way of thanking early believers. As of May 2026, new sign-ups pay $6.99/month, but founders are locked in forever.
In early May 2026 we raised the price of BagRescue Pro from $4.99 to $6.99/month, and from $49.99 to $69.99/year. The new price reflects what it actually costs to run the service well — proxies, infrastructure, the credit refunds we issue, the engineering hours.
What we wouldn't do is raise the price on the people who took a chance on us when we had no track record. Founder's Pricing locks anyone who subscribed before the cutover into the legacy rate, forever.
How does Founder's Pricing work?
If your Pro subscription was created before the May 2026 cutover, your billing stays at the legacy rate:
- $4.99/month, or
- $49.99/year
This applies as long as your subscription stays active and continuous. The amber "Founder" badge on your billing page is the visual confirmation that you're grandfathered in.
You don't have to do anything to keep this rate. It's not a coupon that expires, it's not a promotion that auto-converts. Your subscription is tied to the original price ID and stays there indefinitely.
Who qualifies?
Anyone with an active Pro subscription created before the May 2026 cutover qualifies. That includes:
- Users who signed up on monthly Pro at $4.99/month
- Users who signed up on yearly Pro at $49.99/year
- Users who switched between monthly and yearly before the cutover
If your subscription is paused, you still keep founder status — pause uses Stripe's pause_collection mechanism, which doesn't end the subscription.
If your subscription was cancelled before the cutover and you resubscribe today, you do not qualify. The new sign-up creates a new subscription at the current $6.99/$69.99 rate.
What happens if I cancel and come back?
You lose Founder's Pricing. This is the one rule we want to be clear about.
A cancelled subscription is ended. When you resubscribe — even an hour later — Stripe creates a new subscription against the current price. That price is $6.99/month or $69.99/year for everyone signing up as of May 2026.
So if you're a founder considering cancelling because you're going on vacation or won't use BagRescue for a few months, the better move is almost always to pause instead. Pause keeps your subscription alive (and your founder rate intact) without billing you for 1 to 3 months. We auto-reactivate your stores when the pause ends.
You can pause from the billing page or through the cancellation flow — when you click "Cancel," the first option offered is usually a pause.
Can founders switch between monthly and yearly?
Yes, and your founder base rate carries over. A monthly founder switching to yearly gets the legacy $49.99/year rate, not the new $69.99. Same in reverse.
What we'd suggest: if you're confident you'll stay on BagRescue, yearly at $49.99 is the best deal anyone in the system can get. It's a permanent lock at roughly $4.17/month.
What about support tiers?
Support tiers are the voluntary overpayment levels — Supporter $9.99, Champion $14.99, Super Fan $19.99/month. They're available to founders too.
The way it works:
- Standard tier: founders pay the legacy $4.99/month (or $49.99/year on yearly).
- Supporter / Champion / Super Fan: these are flat rates that apply to everyone. If a founder moves up to Supporter, they pay $9.99/month like any other Supporter.
The critical part: if you move up to a higher support tier and then move back down to Standard, your founder rate is preserved. We made sure of this when we built the tier-switch logic. Moving down doesn't lose your founder status.
For more on why people pay extra voluntarily, see Support Tiers.
Will Founder's Pricing ever end?
Not by us. The promise is forever for as long as you stay subscribed.
The two ways it ends are both in your control:
- You cancel your subscription. Resubscribing creates a new sub at current prices.
- Your card fails repeatedly and Stripe ends the subscription. Same outcome — you'd need to re-subscribe at current rates.
To protect against #2, keep your payment method current on the billing page. If a card is about to expire, update it before Stripe starts retrying failed charges.
Why do we offer this?
Three reasons.
First, fairness. People who paid $4.99 a year ago weren't expecting a surprise hike. Honoring that expectation is the right thing to do.
Second, signal. We want early adopters to feel like early adopters, not like beta testers we forgot about. The amber badge is a small thing, but it matters.
Third, retention math. Founders who stay subscribed for years are worth more to us than the extra $2/month we'd squeeze out of them. Loyalty compounds.
If you're a founder and BagRescue has saved you real money, the right response (if you want to give back) isn't to pay full price — it's to chip in via a support tier or refer a friend through the referral program.
How do I check if I have Founder's Pricing?
Open the billing page in the dashboard. Look for the amber "Founder" badge near your plan name. If it's there, you're locked in.
If you think you should have it but don't see the badge, contact support with your account email. We can verify against the cutover timestamp.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Founder's Pricing apply to PAYG credits?
No. PAYG credits are priced uniformly at $5 for 5 credits for everyone. Founder's Pricing applies only to Pro subscriptions. See Pro vs PAYG for the comparison.
What if I had a yearly sub that just renewed at the old price?
Your yearly renewal at $49.99 is the founder rate. Future renewals continue at $49.99 as long as the subscription stays active.
Can I gift Founder's Pricing to someone else?
No. It's tied to the original subscriber's account.
What if BagRescue gets acquired?
The Founder's Pricing commitment is part of the subscription you signed up for. Any acquirer would inherit those obligations.
I cancelled last month. Can I get founder status back?
Unfortunately no. Resubscribing creates a new subscription at the current rate.
The short answer: if you subscribed before May 2026, you keep $4.99/month or $49.99/year forever, as long as you stay subscribed. Pause instead of cancel if you want to take a break.
