BagRescue Support Tiers: Pay More if It's Worth It to You

Supporter, Champion, and Super Fan tiers let happy BagRescue users chip in extra. Same features as Standard, no special perks. Here's how it works.

TL;DR: BagRescue has four monthly Pro tiers — Standard ($9.99, or $4.99 for founders), Supporter ($9.99), Champion ($14.99), and Super Fan ($19.99). They're identical in features. The higher tiers exist purely so happy users can chip in more if BagRescue earns its keep for them. As of May 2026, you can change tier any time from the billing page, effective immediately.

Most SaaS pricing tiers gate features. Pay more, get more. BagRescue's support tiers do the opposite — they're voluntary overpayment levels with no extra functionality attached.

This is unusual, so this post explains why we built it this way, what each tier costs, and how to use it.

What are the support tiers?

There are four monthly Pro tiers, as of May 2026:

Tier Monthly Price Features
Standard $9.99 ($4.99 for founders) Full BagRescue Pro
Supporter $9.99 Full BagRescue Pro
Champion $14.99 Full BagRescue Pro
Super Fan $19.99 Full BagRescue Pro

Every tier has identical features. Same unlimited stores, same auto-purchase, same dashboard, same support. Moving up a tier doesn't unlock anything new. Moving down a tier doesn't lose anything.

Support tiers are monthly-only. There is no yearly plan.

Why would I pay more than I have to?

Because BagRescue saves you money, and you want it to keep existing.

Here's the honest version: most users save $40–$100/month on groceries through Too Good To Go bags. At $9.99/month, BagRescue is a no-brainer ROI. Some users feel that the value-to-price ratio is uncomfortable — they're paying us ten bucks while saving fifty, and they'd rather the math be a bit less lopsided.

Support tiers are for those users. If BagRescue is saving you real money and you want to chip in more to make sure we stick around, you can.

We don't pretend the higher tiers come with secret perks. They don't. We're being explicit: it's voluntary overpayment, framed kindly.

Who actually picks Champion or Super Fan?

A small but meaningful slice of subscribers. Mostly two groups:

  1. Heavy users who consistently land 10–20 bags a month and want to keep the lights on without thinking about it.
  2. People who like the mission. Cutting food waste is a real win, and some folks want to support that beyond just their own savings.

If you're neither of these, Standard at $9.99 is the right choice. We won't think less of you. That's literally the default price.

How do I change tiers?

Open the billing page in the dashboard. The support tier selector shows your current tier and the other options. Pick one and confirm.

A few specifics:

  • Tier changes take effect immediately.
  • There's no proration. If you switch from Standard to Champion mid-cycle, you'll be billed the new tier at your next renewal — no extra charge in the current period.
  • You can change tier as often as you want. No cooldown.
  • Switching tier doesn't reset your subscription, so founder status is preserved when you move up and then back down.

Does this affect the 30-day bag guarantee?

No. The 30-day bag guarantee applies to all new Pro subscribers regardless of which tier they pick. If no bag lands in 30 days, your subscription auto-cancels and you're not charged — at any tier.

So you could technically subscribe at Super Fan, get no bags in 30 days, and walk away owing nothing. We don't expect this to happen often (the guarantee usually triggers when something is genuinely wrong), but it's covered.

Can founders use the higher tiers?

Yes. Founders pay the legacy $4.99 at the Standard tier. If a founder moves to Supporter ($9.99), Champion ($14.99), or Super Fan ($19.99), they pay those flat rates like everyone else.

The important detail: if a founder moves up and then later moves back down to Standard, the legacy $4.99 rate is preserved. Founder status isn't lost by experimenting with tiers. See Founder's Pricing for more.

What about PAYG users?

Support tiers are a Pro-subscription concept. PAYG credit users don't have tiers — credits are priced uniformly at $5 for 5 credits for everyone. See Pro vs PAYG for the broader pricing breakdown.

If a PAYG user wants to support BagRescue beyond what credits cost, the cleanest path is to switch to a Pro subscription at a higher tier. You can move back to PAYG later if Pro doesn't fit your usage.

Why not just charge more by default?

Because $9.99 is the right price for most users. Pushing everyone to $14.99 would cap our audience to people who heavily use BagRescue, and we'd lose the casual savers and curious newcomers.

The two-track approach — keep the default affordable, give heavy users an opt-in way to pay more — lets us serve both groups without compromising either.

We also think it's more honest. "Pay what feels fair given the value you get" is closer to how we actually want the relationship to work than "pay $14.99 because we made a tier called Pro Plus."

What other ways can I support BagRescue?

A few:

  • Refer a friend. Every paying friend earns you a free month, up to 12 months a year.
  • Leave a review. Public reviews help other people find us.
  • Tell us what's broken. Honest feedback that points to specific issues is worth more than a tier upgrade.

The tier upgrade is the easiest one — two clicks on the billing page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will higher tiers ever get exclusive features?

Not planned. The promise of support tiers is "same features, voluntary contribution." If we ever build something premium that costs us materially more to run, it would likely be a separate add-on, not a tier perk.

Can I downgrade any time?

Yes, instantly, no penalty, no cooldown.

Do support tiers apply to the yearly plan?

No. Support tiers are monthly-only. There is no yearly plan.

What happens to my tier if I pause my subscription?

Pause preserves your tier. When you resume, you'll continue at the same tier you were on.

Is the higher amount tax-deductible?

No, this isn't a donation — it's a service subscription. We don't issue tax receipts for the overpayment portion.

The short answer: support tiers are voluntary overpayment with no extra features. Standard at $9.99 is the default and right answer for most. Move up only if BagRescue is earning its keep for you and you want to chip in more.
