The 30-Day Bag Guarantee: How BagRescue Removes the Risk

If BagRescue doesn't land you a single Too Good To Go bag in 30 days, you don't pay. Here's exactly how the guarantee works for both Pro and PAYG users.

guaranteetrialpricingrefund

TL;DR: Every new BagRescue user gets a 30-day bag guarantee. If no Too Good To Go bag lands in your hands within 30 days, you don't pay a cent. Pro users aren't billed until their first successful bag. PAYG credit buyers can refund all unused credits if no bag arrives in the 30-day window.

The bet behind BagRescue is simple: if we save you a bag, we've earned a few bucks. If we don't, you owe us nothing. The 30-day bag guarantee is how we put that into writing.

As of May 2026, this guarantee covers both ways of paying — the Pro subscription and the pay-as-you-go credit pack. The mechanics differ slightly but the outcome is the same: no bag, no charge.

How does the guarantee work for Pro users?

Pro users get a 30-day trial that doesn't start billing until their first bag.

When you subscribe to Pro, your card is on file but not charged. You add stores, set schedules, and BagRescue starts watching. The clock starts ticking on two things at once:

  1. Your 30-day trial
  2. Our 30-day window to deliver a bag

If a Too Good To Go bag is successfully reserved and picked up during the trial, billing kicks in from that point. If no bag arrives in 30 days, your subscription auto-cancels and your card is never charged.

You don't have to do anything. There's no email to send, no support ticket. The system simply doesn't charge you if it didn't earn the charge.

How does it work for PAYG credit users?

PAYG users get an explicit refund button. If you bought a $5 credit pack and 30 days later no bag has been reserved on your account, the dashboard shows a "Refund unused credits" option that issues a full Stripe refund for any credits you haven't used.

A few specifics, as of May 2026:

  • The 30-day window starts on your first credit pack purchase
  • Eligibility is based on whether any bag_purchased event landed on your account
  • The refund goes back to the original card via Stripe
  • Used credits aren't refunded — only the unused remainder
  • If you've already received a guarantee refund, that pack is marked consumed and can't be refunded again

The refund button only shows up if you're eligible. If a bag landed, the guarantee is satisfied and the button goes away (your remaining credits are still yours to use until they hit their 12-month expiry).

Why do we offer this?

Two reasons.

First, we're confident the product works. BagRescue watches stores at high frequency and reserves bags the moment they open. For the vast majority of users on active stores with reasonable schedules, the first bag lands well inside the first week. If 30 days pass with nothing, something is wrong — either the store isn't dropping bags, the schedule is off, or we genuinely couldn't deliver. In all of those cases, you shouldn't pay.

Second, food rescue is a casual decision. Most people trying BagRescue are curious but unsure whether it'll actually work for their neighborhood. Removing the financial risk lets you find out without it being a big deal if it doesn't pan out. That's better for you and, honestly, better for us — refunding a few users beats arguing with disappointed ones.

What counts as "getting a bag"?

A bag counts when BagRescue successfully reserves it on your Too Good To Go account. That's the moment it shows up in your TGTG app as a confirmed order.

A few things that do NOT count against the guarantee:

  • Bags that were reserved but cancelled by the store (those auto-refund)
  • Bags that we attempted but lost to faster shoppers
  • Bags that landed in your account but you forgot to pick up

The first two protect you. The third is on you — once we deliver, we've done our part. See our pickup confirmation reminders for how we help you not miss windows.

How do I claim a Pro refund?

You don't need to. If 30 days pass without a successful bag, your trial auto-cancels and the card on file is never charged. The cancellation is visible on your billing page.

If you'd rather cancel earlier (say at day 15 because you've decided BagRescue isn't for you), you can do that from the billing page too. Cancelling during the trial means no charge, ever.

How do I claim a PAYG refund?

Open the dashboard. If you're eligible, the credit balance widget shows a "30-day guarantee: refund unused credits" link. Click it, confirm, and we issue a Stripe refund for your unused credits within minutes.

The refund goes to the original payment method. Most cards see it in 5–10 business days; that's Stripe's processing time, not ours.

If the option isn't showing and you think it should be, contact support. We'd rather refund a borderline case than have someone feel cheated.

What if I want to keep using BagRescue after a refund?

You can. Refunding under the guarantee doesn't lock you out — you can buy a new credit pack or subscribe to Pro any time. The 30-day guarantee on Pro is once per account, but you're welcome to keep using the service on a paid basis.

If the reason you didn't get a bag was that you only added one store and it rarely drops, the fix is usually to add more stores. See what Too Good To Go is for context on which kinds of stores are most active in most cities.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the guarantee apply if I cancel before 30 days?

Pro: yes, you won't be charged. PAYG: yes, and you can refund unused credits if no bag landed.

Can I claim the guarantee more than once?

No. It's a one-time, per-account safety net for your first 30 days.

What if I had one bag in 30 days but want to refund anyway?

The guarantee covers "no bag in 30 days." If we delivered even one bag, the guarantee is satisfied and you keep your remaining credits or stay on Pro at the standard $9.99/month. You can always cancel Pro anytime from the billing page.

Does the guarantee apply to Founder's Pricing subscribers?

If you're reading this you probably signed up after the May 2026 cutover, but yes — the trial and guarantee work identically regardless of price tier. See Founder's Pricing for more on legacy rates.

How fast does the refund hit my card?

The Stripe refund is issued immediately. Your bank typically posts it in 5–10 business days.

The short answer: if BagRescue doesn't deliver a bag in 30 days, you don't pay. Pro auto-cancels billing, PAYG refunds your unused credits. No friction, no negotiation.
